For generations, locals have simply called it Buffet Vis. Established in 1946, it is the oldest restaurant on the island of Vis and one of its most treasured culinary landmarks.

The story began just after the Second World War, when the founder, Domina, opened a small buffet to serve workers rebuilding the island. Over the decades, the restaurant grew into a beloved institution while staying true to its roots—fresh seafood, honest cooking and genuine Dalmatian hospitality.

Today, Buffet Vis remains dedicated exclusively to seafood and is open for dinner only. The menu follows the rhythm of the Adriatic, with fresh local fish, shellfish and seasonal specialties prepared using traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Located along the beautiful waterfront in Vis Town, the restaurant offers one of the island’s most authentic dining experiences. As the evening settles over the harbour and fishing boats return with the day’s catch, guests enjoy a meal in surroundings that have welcomed visitors for almost eighty years.
