Hidden on the small islet of Ravnik, just a short boat ride from Vis Town, Green Cave (Zelena špilja) is one of the island’s most fascinating natural attractions. The cave gets its name from the magical emerald-green light that fills the interior when sunlight shines through a large opening in the cave’s ceiling and reflects off the crystal-clear sea below.

Unlike the famous Blue Cave on nearby Biševo, visitors are allowed to swim inside Green Cave. During the middle of the day, the sunlight creates an almost surreal atmosphere, making it a favourite stop for swimming, snorkelling and photography.

The cave is approximately 15 metres high and can be entered by small boats, although many visitors choose to jump into the water and swim through the glowing green reflections. The surrounding coastline of Ravnik is equally beautiful, with dramatic cliffs and secluded coves that are best explored by boat.

Green Cave is included in most boat excursions from Vis, Komiža and nearby islands, often combined with visits to Stiniva Cove, the Blue Cave and the Pakleni Islands.
