Hidden among the narrow stone streets of Vis Town is one of the island’s most authentic little workshops. Behind its modest entrance you’ll find Lavanda i Ružmarin, where leather craftsman Bruno has been making handmade leather goods for almost thirty years.
This is not a souvenir shop filled with factory-made products. Every belt, wallet, bag and leather accessory is carefully handcrafted using traditional techniques, creating pieces designed to last for years rather than seasons.
In 1991, Bruno and his wife moved to the island of Hvar. Although Croatia was going through difficult times, they quickly fell in love with the slower rhythm of island life and the close-knit communities of the Adriatic islands.
Five years later, in 1996, Bruno travelled to Vis with a friend who worked as a sailmaker. Together they bought and restored an old stone house and shared a workshop. After two years the sailmaker moved on, but Bruno and his wife decided to stay. His wife also has family roots on Vis, making the island the perfect place to build a new home.
Nearly three decades later, Bruno is still welcoming visitors into the same workshop.

Because every item is individually crafted, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Many visitors come looking for a unique gift, but leave with something far more personal. Buying directly from the person who designed and made the product creates a connection that simply cannot be found in larger stores.
Lavanda i Ružmarin represents something increasingly rare—a traditional workshop where craftsmanship, quality and personality are valued above mass production. It is the kind of place visitors often discover by chance, yet remember long after returning home.
If you enjoy discovering authentic local crafts and meeting the people behind them, Lavanda i Ružmarin is well worth a visit during your stay in Vis Town.
